There are very few things we do in life that are as rewarding as giving of ones time, talent and resources. God gives each of us unique gifts and abilities so that we may use them to glorify Him. The Bible says that giving is a way to participate in God's mission of blessing others and establishing His Kingdom on earth. Luke 6:38 says that we are blessed according to how we bless others. "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
One of these experiences for me, has been the honor in serving as a Co-Chair of International Missions for Beulah Mission Center of Oklahoma; an organization whose mission is to create opportunities for women to belong among other women who model genuine care and support, to help them embrace life while discovering their gifts and talents, and to ultimately transform the lives of others by encouraging them to give back to families and communities.
In the summer of 2023, I was blessed to be a first hand witness of BMCOK beneficiaries in Nairobi Kenya. I got to meet not only the recipients, but also one of our trusted mission partners Judy Kihumba, a young and talented Sister in Christ who runs THLEP - Talking Hands, Listening Eyes Program, in Nairobi Kenya. BMCOK works with Judy to identify recipients and beneficiaries who not only align with our mission, but who would also be the most impacted by BMCOK's resources. Faith has worked with Judy Kihumba for two years.
Carol was a beneficiary of BMCOK. She is a visually impaired High School graduate who was able to receive sponsorship for classes and facilitation of her National Exams to be able to graduate. I visited her at their family's home in Limuru Kenya. Was able to meet her parents and siblings who were ever grateful for the support for their daughter. During my visit I was able to meet the home school tutor tho was hired by BMCOK to help Carol through her Exam process. Her need arose since her blindness onset came while she was in school and there are limited facilities that accommodate people in her circumstance. It is my firm belief that Carol will go far in life as she endeavors to help those who may be in a similar predicament. We hope to work with her and others to help ease and standardize the process of the visually and hearing impaired to be able to undertake their National examinations.
Judy and I also visited Diviah. Diviah is a single mother is 2 boys who is hearing impaired. She lives in Dandora Estate. This is one of the living settlements in Nairobi's Eastlands area, less than 2 miles from where I was born and raised. Despite the challenges, Diviah is a jovial lady whose love for her children and affinity for entrepreneurship is obvious. She lost her ability to make a living as a fish monger during her second pregnancy. BMCOK came in to temporarily support her living expenses and more importantly get her back into her business so that she may be able to sustain her family as she serves great meals to her community. She plans to share her knowledge and experience to help other hearing impaired women set up and run fish mongering businesses in Nairobi. It was such a joy to see God's love in each of the people I met.
The humanity and passion for the well being of others. These are virtues that are simply forgotten in many societies around the world but yet, are ever more necessary. As we grow, we seek to deepen our relationships with our partners and affiliates in the International Missions endeavors, to ensure even greater impact and excersice our Mission and Vision in the world, one individual and family at a time for the glory of His Kingdom. Please help us support these and other missions here: https://www.beulahbet.org/
